Voor Vrije Friezen draaide alles om eer. In hun autonome gebiedjes langs de Nederlandse en Duitse Noordzeekust werd menige vete uitgevochten omdat men zich in zijn eer voelde aangetast. Wat werd gerekend tot schending van de eer is vastgelegd in zogenaamde Oudfriese boeteregisters: letselschadelijsten met opsommingen van verwondingen, beledigingen en andere geweldsdaden met bijbehorende schadevergoedingen. Bij het boek zijn een aantal cartoon prenten als kaart verkrijgbaar waarop de pijnlijke boetes op een grappige manier zijn te bewonderen. Zijn bekendste werk bestaat uit zijn illustraties voor de Kameleon boekenreeks van Hotze de Roos. In de jaren '90 van de vorige eeuw verschenen een twintigtal delen die opnieuw werden uitgegeven met illustraties van zijn hand. Hameeteman gaf de bekende Kameleon tweeling weer als 16-jarige jongens in spijkerbroek, ook de andere personages en locaties kregen een modernere uitstraling. Hameeteman illustreerde ook het 60e en tevens laatste deel van Hotze de Roos, De Kameleon maakt het helemaal en twee hierop volgende delen die geschreven werden door Piero Stanco onder het pseudoniem P. de Roos.
